Article: Achieving Work/Life Balance
There's an awful lot of nonsense about achieving work/life balance. Here are some of the myths and realities.
Question: How can I achieve work/life balance?
If you mean that Nirvana-like state where you are successful, fulfilled and happy at work and at home, the short, brutal answer is that you probably won't. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't wrestle with the issues.
There are lots of myths about work/life balance. Here they are, along with some of the corresponding realities.
The first myth is encapsulated in the language we use. The issue really isn't about work/life balance at all.
Reality: the problem is not about balancing work and life. It's about making choices about different parts of life and their importance just now. Work is a part of life. So is being a spouse, a friend, and a parent. So is caring for yourself and growing.
This is not balance like on a scale. This is balance like choosing the mix of ingredients that go into a fine salad or complex soup. The ingredients not only have their own flavor and texture, they also affect the flavor of other ingredients and contrast or complement the textures.
Myth: you can have it all.
Reality: you can have it all. But you probably can't have it all at once. There are times in your life when it's vitally important to pay attention to your career. At other times, family concerns may be more important. Sometimes the important thing is education. Sometimes it's putting back money for retirement.
I like to think of those choices as an act of juggling. Every now and then one of the balls you're juggling will drop to the floor because you're paying too much attention to the other balls. That's OK most of the time
But some of the balls you're juggling are glass balls. If they drop, they break, and often can't be put back together again. Relationships are often glass balls.
Myth: it's possible to keep life in little boxes and keep each one under control. Life is a collection of individual areas.
Reality: Life is a giant system made up of interconnected parts that affect each other. Life is about trade-offs.
If you take time to go to the gym, you can't use that time to shop for groceries. The money you spend on self-development courses will probably affect what you spend on vacation or what you put back for the college fund for your kids. When you're on a business trip, you can't be at the dance recital.
The trick is to make the choices yourself instead of letting them happen to you. Set your priorities. Make your choices in line with them. Many successful people, for example, believe that family time is important. They act on that belief by scheduling that time first, every year or month or week.
Myth: anyone can achieve a good level of balance if they work hard to do it.
Reality: In today's world, real "balance" is often a luxury for those who have lots of money. It's true that money can't buy happiness, but money can buy a vacation where you spend time with the family. It can buy a housecleaner, cook, or nanny and free up time you can spend with your spouse. It can pay the tuition on a college degree.
That doesn't mean you can't achieve some balance in your life. It does mean that there are limits on what you can do. Shaking your fist at the sky about them will do very little good.
Myth: my company will help me achieve balance.
Reality: Many workplaces today are not much different than third grade classrooms. You may not need a hall pass to go to the restroom, but you probably need permission to take the afternoon off for a school field trip, or you have to lie about what you're doing and take a sick day.
If you're going to achieve any kind of work/life balance, it's going to be up to you. Set your priorities. Then make your choices based on those priorities.

Article:you don't have to go to the gym to exercise.
You can incorporate activities into you everyday life that will substitute for going to the gym. In addition, you don't have to pay the big bucks every month.
Park further away from the building. Most of us are guilty of circling around the parking lot, trying to find the closest parking space to the door of the store or the office. By parking further away, you may save time and gas. You also get a few minutes of extra exercise in to your day.
Does your office have stairs? Do you have stairs in your shopping center? Use them. Instead of waiting for the elevator you can walk of a few stairs and get some exercise. If you are in a high story building, walk up the stairs half way, and then take the elevator. Stairs are a good cardiovascular exercise.
If you work near an area that has a restaurant, walk to lunch. Walk on your lunch break. If you bring you lunch to work, eat, and then walk outside for a few minutes or around your office.
During your breaks at work or whenever you have extra time on your hand, do some stretching exercises. You can also do this when you wake up. You may feel more refreshed if you do this when you wake up.
Take up a hobby. Try gardening. Gardening is good exercise and burns up plenty of calories. Any hobby that requires you to move around is a good exercise alternative.
Cook more often. When you cook you have to left and carry many items from your cabinets or pantry. This is a good weight lifting exercise.
Play games and other fun stuff with your kids. This is a good exercise, chasing your kids around your yard or home brings the family close together. You also get your kids to exercise. Most children are sedentary this will help them as well as you.
Above all, live well. Its the only life your ever gonna get!

ARTICLE: The Centre of Our Existence! by Joseph Ghabi
The Centre of Our Existence! - By Joseph Ghabi
Most of us have heard talk or have read something about the seven centers of energies that we refer to as Chakras. I do believe these are very important centers of our being in terms of our energy field, our aura, and most of all our own balance that can manifest into our physical body.
So what can we do about these energies and how can we balance these centers? You don't need a high level of schooling but perhaps only a few small tips that can enhance your association with the different levels of these Chakras.
These Chakras are usually associated with colors. Not simply to distinguish them, or identify them from each other, but because colors on their own play on our emotional psyche. I personally work with nine chakras instead of seven. I will go through the nine charkas and explain their characteristics.
The characteristics of the Chakras, having worked with them for many years through my meditation and healing, are represented as follows: We will start from the bottom up.
The Root Chakra is the first Chakra located on the base of the spine, and its color is "Red" and its secondary color is "Black". Its characteristics are grounding to the earth plane existence in a body. It holds the basic needs of stability, security, and survival. In our body, Root Chakra body parts include the hips, legs, rectum, kidneys, bones, colon, and lower back. Any red or black gemstones will help heal and balance this Chakra. Recommended gemstones: Garnet, Ruby as red, and smoky quartz and obsidian for black.
The Belly Chakra is the second Chakra located in the abdomen, and its color is "Orange". Its characteristics are our sexuality, self-esteem, our own personal power, and power of the world. This Chakra accesses the lower level of the emotional body and houses one's unhealed inner child. Inner child here are where the images of both this life, and past life traumas, are stored. The ability to let go of old emotions is based in this Chakra. This is a very powerful chakra. In our body, Belly Chakra body parts include the ovaries, vagina, genitals, uterus, lumbar spine, kidneys, bladder, and large intestine. Any orange gemstones will heal and balance this Chakra. Recommended gemstones: Carnelian (help in pregnancy), and Coral.
The Solar Plexus Chakra is the third Chakra located in the stomach, and its color is "Yellow". Its characteristics are the conscious and rational mind. Our self-confidence, personal power, and intuition is manifested here. Business, math sense, and material learning ability are focused here as well as self-empowerment and our will. Our inner child as part of our Soul is housed there and that can help to bring us our survival tools. Solar Plexus body parts include the stomach, bladder, pancreas, small intestine, liver, and gall bladder. Any yellow gemstones will heal and balance this Chakra. Recommended gemstones: Citrine or Yellow Sapphire.
The Heart Chakra is the fourth Chakra located in the heart, and its color is either "Green" and as secondary color "Pink" pending on the persona state of mind. Pink will represent earthly love and that the person is looking for love. Green is more universal and unconditional love for self and for humanity as a mean of compassion. Its characteristics are that it is very important to give and receive love. It is about the ability to love yourself and others. Heart Chakra body parts are the heart, circulatory system, lungs, shoulder and the upper back. Any color of pink or green gemstones will heal and balance this Chakra. Recommended gemstones: Modalvite and Malachite for the Green, and Pink Crystal Quartz and Kunzite for the Pink color.
The Throat Chakra is the fifth Chakra located in the throat, and its color is "Light Blue". Its characteristics are expression, hearing (include psychic hearing), receiving others, communication, and creativity. It holds the blueprint of the physical body. Possibility for change, transformation and healing are located here, including healing one's future verses the past, through karmic release. The throat can store our anger, and what we need to let go of. Throat Chakra body parts include the throat, neck, jaw, teeth, ears, hearing, and the thyroid gland. Any light blue gemstones will heal and balance this Chakra. Recommended gemstones: Aquamarine, Blue Tourmaline or Turquoise.
The Third Eye Chakra is the sixth Chakra located between our brows, and its color is "Indigo". Its characteristics are where we see beyond physical realities into the psychic realm, for understanding of the non-physical truth. It is defined as the place of the Goddess Within. Third eye Chakra body parts include the eyes, face, and brain. Any indigo gemstones will heal and balance this Chakra. Recommended gemstones: Azurite and Sapphire.
The Crown Chakra is the seventh Chakra located on top of our head, and its color is "Violet". Its characteristics are that it is the first point where the Soul enters into the body at birth through its return journey into this plane. It is defined as the place of the Goddess herself. Crown Chakra body parts include the spine and nervous systems. Any violet gemstones will heal and balance this Chakra. Recommended gemstones: Amethyst and Serenite.
The Connection Point Chakra as I call it is the eighth Chakra located few inches from the crown Chakra and its color is "Clear or White". This is where communication with your guides and loved ones will take place and bring clarity to your link to guidance and peace. It is beyond our physical body and rarely has any effect on us. Any white or clear stone will heal and balance this Chakra. Recommended gemstones: White and Clear Quartz.
Oneness with the source Chakra as I call it, is the ninth Chakra located a few feet higher than the Connection Point Chakra and its color is "Gold". This is the level on which the soul works. The experience on meditating on this will differ for each of us as individuals because our experiences on a soul level are unique to each, every one of us for our own evolution at a soul level. It is a very high and strong Chakra, and it may be uncomfortable for some people. It will take some practice to get use to its energy. I never used any Gemstone for this Chakra but it is essential to have balanced the complete Chakra for it to work properly. You can use a mixture of the eight Gemstones from the different Chakra's to heal and balance it.
I personally use the last two Chakras, but they are not necessary when first starting to use your Chakras when you start meditating. Once you become familiar with your centre points and try to tap into their energies then those Chakras can offer you some benefit and they will have their effect on you.
Chakras are a very important part of our life and we may accept this or not. It is a personal choice. Whatever your preference is on the subject, you will feels its effect in your daily life.
In my next article, I will provide in more depth the effect of the colors on your body and the symptoms which may manifest by having just one unbalanced Chakra. Also I will speak of a meditation and how to work with the Chakra(s).

ARTICLE: Have You Missed Your Soulmate? by Keishia Lee-Louis
Many people believe in love at first site. They believe that in an instant, they will know who they should be with for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, these unrealistic expectations often end in divorce.
On the other hand, some couples spend 10 or 15 years getting to know each other before marriage. They'll live together, make major purchases, and even have children, before making a commitment to get married. Unfortunately, many of these marriages also end in divorce because even though they committed with their heads (and maybe even their hearts) the couple didn't know how to make a soul commitment.
Finally, some people go along being unhappily single. They desire to be married, but they find themselves playing games and dating without setting realistic personal goals for their future.
Maybe you're one of the people I've mentioned above. You're in a relationship (or your waiting for one), and you're wondering, "Is this it? Have I really found my soulmate?"
What if I told you that knowing your soulmate has more to do with knowing who you are and your level of commitment, rather than finding the "perfect match" to complete you?
I bring this up because I came across a book entitled Sacred Marriage: What If God Designed Marriage to Make Us Holy More Than to Make Us Happy? It made me think about how true soulmate relationships are formed: God prepares each individual and brings them to a point where their souls can effectively be knitted together for His purposes.
With this thought in mind, here are three ways for you to recognize your soulmate:
1. The communication between the two of you is transparent. "In his excellent book, Why Am I Afraid to Tell You Who I Am?, John Powell describes the five levels of communication: cliche, fact opinion, emotion, and transparency."-- From Starting Your Marriage Right, by Dennis and Barbara Rainey.
Transparent communication means you and your partner can move beyond the cliches, facts, opinions, and emotions to a level where you are both vulnerable, but where truth prevails in your relationship. Transparency doesn't come quickly for most people, but when it does, freedom is not far behind. Transparency comes only with courage, nonjudgemental attitudes, and most importantly, trust. And this leads me to my next point.
2. You and your soulmate will trust each other completely. That means you don't have to wonder if your loved one is doing something inappropriate, without thought to your wellbeing, or without sound judgment. Trust comes when words and actions line up to form a coherent picture of the person you love.
3. You and your soulmate know the meaning of unconditional love. One may say, "Keishia, how can you believe in such a concept in this day in age? This kind of love never happens in real life." I'm here to say that it does. If you've read some of my other articles, you'll note all of the things that must be stripped from a person's character (selfishness, pride, and jealousy) in order to get there. We can't get there by our own will, but rather by God's grace and by understanding His nature. No matter how hard we try to do it in our own strength and conviction, leaning on divine intervention is the only way to rid ourselves of these three character flaws.
Ultimately successful soulmates aren't just born at some point in time or space to hook up by sheer coincidence. They are made over time to be with each other for a lifetime. If you're wondering where yours is, look inward and upward and you're bound to discover more than what you've seeking.
